Tagetes, also known as Tagetes Minuta is one of the eminent essential oil resources.  Its medical and several other uses have made Tagetes as the most demanded oils in the world. Today it is grown worldwidelike South Africa, Argentina, Egypt and France and so on. The mesmerizing aroma of the tagetes that is, bit herby and bitter green is reckoned worldwide.

In the Indian subcontinent, one of the local cultivated flower tops of the French marigold is distilled solvent (mostly sandalwood oil) to carve “attar genda”. Attar genda is one of the most ancient perfume ingredients. Later the herb is kept at the doors as a guard from mosquitoes and flies. In African continent, this is one of the most used stuffs to control and guard from pests and bugs. In Uganda, the herb is used to combat diseases and insect. The oil is also used to treat open wounds, parasites and other things.

Uses
Tagetes contains Anthelminthic, carminative, diaphoretic, antispasmodic, bactericidal, emmenagogue, fungicidal, and stomachic properties. These active elements make Tagetes as great medical herb. Several pharmaceutical products are made by tagetes oil. Also in some places, the oil is used in making herbaceous and floral perfumes.
