History of Plant
Bergamot comes from the family of Rutaceae and is an evergreen tree which can grow up to 15 feet high. There are many plants with bergamot-like fragrance like the orange bergamot (mentha citrate) and wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa) but they are unrelated perennial plants to the Begramot. The Bergamot fruit is medium in size and pear-shaped at full maturity. Bergamot essential oil is used commercially to flavour Earl Grey tea and as a component in perfumes. The name Bergamot originated from the city of Bergamo in Lombardy where the oil was first sold. The tree is a native to South East Asia but was later introduced in Italy. It is also found in Ivory Coast, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. Bergamot nature identical is Phthalate free.
